The new model AVR-1611 offers value and performance at it's price point, however I believe that the AVR-1911 offers the most flexibility...most importantly the 7.1 AVR-1911 can be configured to assign two channels for a second [multi-room] room pair of speakers or to bi-amp your front 'main' left and right speakers to improve your stereo music reproduction. The 3 new models all feature HDMI 1.4 capability.
